Privacy policy

Gizmo's Family Day Care is a small family day care service in Pacific Pines, Queensland, run by Katie. This policy explains what happens to the information you give us through this website. It's written plainly on purpose, so if anything here isn't clear, just ask.

What we collect

If you fill in the enquiry form on this site, we collect what you type into it:

• Your name
• Your phone number
• Your email address, if you give one
• Your child's age range
• The days or hours you're after
• Anything you write in the message box

If you phone, email or message us on Facebook instead, we hold whatever you tell us in that conversation.

We don't run advertising trackers or analytics on this website, and we don't build a profile of you.

Why we collect it

One reason only: so Katie can get back to you about a place at Gizmo's, answer your questions and, if you'd like, arrange a visit. We don't use your details for marketing, we don't add you to a mailing list, and we never sell or trade them.

Who else sees it

Enquiry details stay with Katie. If you go on to enrol, some of your information is shared with Kids at Home, the approved family day care provider Gizmo's is registered with, because they handle enrolments, Child Care Subsidy administration and fee payments. That's a necessary part of enrolling and claiming the subsidy, and Kids at Home has its own privacy policy governing what they do with it.

We may also have to disclose information where the law requires it: for example, child safety or regulatory obligations that apply to every approved education and care service.

Third parties this site uses

The enquiry form is delivered by Web3Forms, a form-to-email service. When you press send, the details you typed are passed to their servers, which turn them into an email to Katie. Web3Forms processes the submission in transit rather than keeping it as a record for us, and their servers are located outside Australia, so your information is disclosed overseas at that point. Their privacy policy governs what they do with it. If you'd rather not use the form, call Katie on 0402 115 644 instead.

This website loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. That means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. We don't control what Google does with it, and their privacy policy applies.

The website is served by our hosting provider, which keeps standard server logs.

How long we keep it

If you enquire and don't go on to enrol, Katie keeps your details only as long as they're useful for the conversation, typically while a waitlist is live, and deletes them after that. If your child enrols, records are kept for as long as required by the regulations that apply to education and care services.

Keeping it safe

Enquiry details are held on Katie's own devices, which are password protected. We take reasonable steps to protect information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, though no method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure.

Children's information

This website isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. The information about a child in an enquiry, their age and any needs you mention, comes from you as their parent or guardian.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just call or email. There's no form to fill in, and we won't ask you why.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
